ONN Performace

  1. vulkan shaders

VS Onn Tablet

  1. AI says The Snapdragon 685 in the Onn struggles heavily with systems beyond the PS1/N64 generation.
  2. The Exynos 1280 in the samsung a53 handles Dreamcast, PSP, and lightweight PS2 or GameCube emulation via Dolphin much more smoothly.
  3. In my experience Gamecube def plays better on the a53 phone than that tablet.
  4. However, after switching to vulkan on the tablet that can play monkey ball ok
  5. So I wouldn't say that tablet can't play gc. It can, just it does get choppy at times.

Vulkan

Vulkan drivers do seem to have better performance on this onn snapdragon hardware. It's important to understand however the opengl vs vulkan driver config only impacts 3D game emulation for systems like PS1, N64, Dreamcast, Saturn, Gamecube and above. I do not think this impacts 2d emulation like megadrive, atari, etc. Also once you switch to Vulkan you need to use slang shaders instead of glsl shaders.

N64

?

Gamecube

Playable but gets choppy sometimes. Dolphin only using Vulkan. ogl is more choppy. The RA Core is crap.

Dreamcast

Plays Fine with both driver sets.

Saturn

Saturn seems to be harder to emulate than dreamcast.
  1. yabasanshiro core plays some games OK
  2. beetle core has choppy sound with both vulkan and ogl

Beetle Saturn

Does not work on onn tablet. Unplayabale.
  1. Best for: Accuracy, game compatibility, and smooth 2D/3D playback.
  2. Pros: Runs almost every game correctly; handles audio sync and controllers very well.
  3. Cons: Demands a powerful CPU and does not support internal resolution upscaling.

yabasanshiro

Does work on onn tablet but some games do not work.
  1. Best for: Low-spec hardware or if you want higher-resolution upscaling.
  2. Pros: Features hardware acceleration and lets you boost internal resolutions for sharper 3D graphics.
  3. Cons: Lower overall accuracy and compatibility; certain games may glitch or crash
