PS2 Compression

I had all .gz compressed. Most recommend chd now.

gz

I extracted to iso using 7zip. PCXS2 can load .gz files but creates the large pindex.tmp files making a mess. The retroarch ps2 core LRPS2 doen''t work with .gz. It does work with iso. It LRPS2 does work with .chd but the .chd must be default compressed Compression: lzma (LZMA), zlib (Deflate), huff (Huffman), flac (FLAC) not zstd to work.
736 GB .gz
1.16 TB in .iso

chd

chdman
  1. chdman documention
  2. launchbox forums
  3. retro game corps
  1. If source is ISO use createdvd command
  2. If source is cue or cd iso use createcd
chdman createdvd -input "source.iso" -output "target.chd" -compression zstd -force

zstd

So it seems zstd doesn't work with LRPS2. So we will stick with default of Compression: lzma (LZMA), zlib (Deflate), huff (Huffman), flac (FLAC)

After conversion to mostly chd

  1. 736 GB .gz
  2. 1.16 TB in .iso
  3. 706 GB in mostly .chd
I left 0Best, and Horror in iso. Also one simple 200 series refused to concert. v106 The Block Kuzushi Quest Dragon Kingdom. Everything else is .chd
